Republic Services Launch Residential Food Waste Curbside Collection within city of Redmond

Republic Services, formerly High Country Disposal is expanding the curbside compost program to include all food waste. Beginning November 1, 2020, Republic Services will collect all food waste in the curbside compost subscription program for customers in the city of Redmond. The yard debris / food waste subscription program is available to residents with the city of Redmond.

City of Redmond residential customers with curbside compost service can add all food scraps directly into their yard debris cart, along with their yard trimmings. The yard debris and food scraps will be processed into nutrient rich compost by Deschutes Recycling and can be used on lawns and gardens, creating a closed loop food system for our community.

Customers with the yard debris subscription service are invited to pick up a free two-gallon kitchen pail to store food scraps at the Redmond office, 1090 NE Hemlock Avenue. The kitchen pail is a convenient way to collect and store food scraps until it is emptied into the compost cart for collection.

There are no changes to the customers’ normal collection schedule.

Customers will also receive an outline of what materials can and can’t be included. Materials that cannot go in the cart include plastics bags of any kind, produce stickers, plastic containers, packaging, compostable plastics, foodware, paper, metals, or garbage.

Customers may contact the office for a copy of the food waste flyer.  Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.,  541.548.4984.
