Regular Collection Schedule on the 4th of July

High Country Disposal will be operating on a normal collection schedule on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

Customers who have garbage & recycling collection service on Thursday, July 4th should have their carts out by 6:00 a.m. or the night before.

Collection times may be earlier due to the holiday so please have carts out by 6:00 a.m.

The High Country Disposal office will be closed the 4th of July and will reopen Friday, July 5, 2019 at 8:00 a.m.

 

Free Household Hazardous Waste Events in Redmond & Sisters

Deschutes County Solid Waste is providing a free Household Hazardous Waste event for residents in Redmond and Sisters.

Redmond Location

Saturday, July 13, 2019

9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center – Awbrey Lot, Redmond

 

Sisters Location

Saturday, August 31, 2019

9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Sisters Recycle Center – 328 W. Sisters Park Drive, Sisters

  • Fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides
  • Fluorescent light bulbs/tubes
  • Cleaning products
  • Fuels & thinners
  • Aerosol spray cans
  • Oil filters & antifreeze
  • Automotive chemicals
  • Pool & spa chemicals
  • Mercury items
  • Paint & stain
  • Propane tanks (5 gal max)

 

Items not Accepted

  • Business-generated hazardous waste, explosives, fireworks, ammunition, gas, cylinders, radioactive, bio-hazardous waste and barrels.

Free Residential Shred and Drug Disposal Event

SecureShred and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office are partnering to provide residents the opportunity to safely destroy personal documents for free.

When: Saturday, June 22, 2019

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Where: Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office

703 N. Larch Street, Sisters

The event is intended for private residential document shredding only, no commercial or business shredding provided.

 

Shredding:

No advance document sorting necessary. Staples, paperclips and file folders are okay.

Plastic bags or 3-ring binders are not accepted.

Drug Disposal:

At the event, the Sheriff’s Office will also have a deputy available to collect outdated or unwanted prescription medication or over-the-counter drugs.

The drug disposal program is designed to keep unwanted or unused medications away from abusers, children and animals. The program is also intended to reduce negative environmental impact to the water, soil and landfill’s by using proper disposal practices.

Donate a Non-Perishable Food:

The Sheriff’s Office is asking event participants to bring a donation of non-perishable food.

Sisters Free Residential Clean up Results

High Country Disposal collected 900 yards of yard debris, 300 yards of miscellaneous household waste and recycled an assortment of appliances at our 2019 residential free spring cleanup event in the city of Sisters.  The free residential fall cleanup event will be held the week of November 4, 2019.  The free cleanup event is for residential customers with the city of Sisters.

High Country Disposal Office Closed Friday, May 17, 2019 from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

High Country Disposal will temporarily close their office Friday, May 17 from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 pm. Customers can leave a message and calls will be returned once the office reopens at 1:30 pm.

There will be no interruption with collection services, the one hour closure only affects the office.
